Art and creativity have always been central to Annette’s life. Born in La Jolla, “The Gem of California”, she grew up in an art and nature loving family, with her house often filled with musicians and artists. Some were with the San Diego symphony where her mother performed, and others were friends, such as the home designer and glass artist, James Hubbell. Her grandmother, aunt and uncle were all accomplished painters. As a child, she always enjoyed drawing and painting and her earliest works took inspiration from her interest in poetry, spirituality and the beauty of the natural world. At 17 she received her first commissioned artwork after moving to Ashland and becoming a hairstylist.

After learning drawing and watercolor painting skills from local and international artists in Nevada City, California, she had a show at Roger’s Art Gallery. This was followed by shows at Foothill Florists and Gallery, Tyler Micoleau’s Gallery, cafés, and open studios. She also continues to create art commissions.

Annette enjoys Plein Air painting while she travels throughout the western United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico and Central America. Once she drove from San Diego to Fairbanks, Alaska in a VW bus. The diverse beauty of the world’s scenery and culture continue to inspire her. She has worked with artists at the Emerson Art School in Arizona and is the Founder and Director of Sierra Foothills Plein Air Painters (SFPP) in Northern California.

Annette’s home and studio are in Nevada City. She enjoys hiking and outdoor activities with her husband and three children, always with paints, paper and brushes.
